Barend van der Meer (1659–1702) was a Dutch painter of the seventeenth century, best known for his still-life compositions. He created carefully arranged scenes featuring fruit, flowers, vessels and other objects, paying particular attention to colour, light and surface texture. His paintings reflect the Dutch tradition of celebrating everyday and luxury objects through rich, detailed arrangements.
