Charlie Watts, the legendary drummer of The Rolling Stones, was also known for his lifelong love of animals, particularly Collies. He and his wife, Shirley, lived at Halsdon Manor in Devon, where they managed an Arabian stud farm and cared for numerous dogs, reflecting their deep commitment to animal welfare.

Walter Armiger Bowring (1874–1931) was a New Zealand-born artist celebrated for his portraiture, landscapes, and political cartoons. Trained in Auckland and at London’s Slade School of Fine Art, he gained early recognition for his satirical illustrations before establishing a strong reputation as a portrait painter, known for capturing the character and psychology of his sitters.

He also served as one of New Zealand’s first official war artists, documenting World War I through portraits of soldiers and military figures. Bowring’s work remains an important contribution to New Zealand’s artistic and cultural history.
