John Rattenbury Skeaping (1901–1980) was a British sculptor celebrated for his sensitive and dynamic depictions of animals. Trained at the Royal Academy Schools, he developed a distinctive ability to capture the movement, energy and character of wildlife through sculpture. Skeaping was married to fellow artist Barbara Hepworth, and his work is held in numerous public collections, including Tate, reflecting his important place in British twentieth-century sculpture.
